Dave Breshears

Dr. David D. Breshears is a Regents Professor of Natural Resources in the School of Natural Resources and the Environment, with joint affiliation with Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology. Breshears leads the Extreme Global Change Ecology lab. He studies ecohydrology related vegetation change with a focus on forest “die-off” events, as well as “ecoclimate teleconnections”, trends in ecosystem properties as a function of woody plant cover, and transport and erosion of sediment driven by both wind and water; applying these to address issues tied to land use, pollution, climate change, and ecosystem services. He is a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the American Geophysical Union, the Ecological Society of America, the Kavli U.S. Frontiers in Science, and the Aldo Leopold Leadership Program. He was listed as a Highly Cited Researcher in 2015, 2016, 2018, and 2019 based on Web of Science.
