Nandika Barjatya, a freshman at the University of Arizona majoring in Computer Science, and she has a deep-rooted passion for environmental sustainability and technology. Raised in central India, Nandika developed a love for nature during her childhood, often spending weekends exploring waterfalls, jungles, and lakes. Witnessing the adverse effects of tourism and overdevelopment on these natural landscapes sparked her commitment to environmental protection. As the president of her school’s community service club, she led 200 students and spearheaded various initiatives, including installing solar panels, promoting eco-bricks, organizing “Best Out of Waste” competitions, and inviting experts to speak on sustainability. Through these efforts, she inspired others to be mindful of their environmental impact. In the future, Nandika aims to combine her love for nature with her skills in technology to develop innovative applications that promote environmental conservation and sustainability.
