For Graduate Students

The Carson Scholars Program is dedicated to training the next generation of environmental researchers in the art of public communication. Throughout the scholarship year, Carson Scholars work closely with faculty mentors who provide hands-on training and other resources to develop skills and strategies to effectively convey the value of their research and enhance their skills in communicating science to a variety of audiences.

For Undergraduate Students

The Diana Liverman Scholars program is an extension of the Carson Scholars Program for graduate students and aims to prepare UArizona undergraduate students as the leaders and problem-solvers of tomorrow. Scholars will be exposed to skills in intentional listening, storytelling, communicating with varied audiences, and contributing to innovative policy development.

For Undergraduate Students

The Earth Grant program is a year-long leadership development program for a diverse cohort of UArizona students passionate about community resilience and the environment. Earth Grant students contribute to real-world outcomes for people and the planet, gain career-ready leadership and professional skills, and form lasting relationships within a growing peer-mentor network.

For High School Students

Find Your Research Environment (FYRE) provides meaningful campus introductions to local high school students planning to attend the University of Arizona and interested in science, environment and resilience.

For Graduate and Undergraduate Students

The Indigenous Correspondents Program will support 10-12 Indigenous graduate and upper-division undergraduate students from across the United States interested in environmental storytelling through a year-long professional development, communication skill-building, and community-generating program led by Indigenous mentors in fields ranging from environmental journalism to podcast production. 

For Undergraduate Students

The Resilience Internships and Student Experiences (RISE) Program provides funding to UArizona students for paid internship opportunities. Interns may work with UArizona departments, government agencies, nonprofits, businesses, or international organizations across the globe. The primary goal of all RISE internships is for students to get experience in a workplace setting related to resilience to gain skills they may not get in coursework.

For Graduate and Undergraduate Students

The Vertically Integrated Projects (VIP) program is a transformative approach to enhancing higher education by engaging undergraduate and graduate students in ambitious, long-term, large-scale, multidisciplinary project teams that are led by faculty. The model has been rigorously evaluated and refined over more than two decades.
