Environmental Defense Fund: Water Leadership Institute
The Water Leadership Institute (WLI) is a program run through the Environmental Defense Fund, designed to empower young people in the Southwest to take an active role in shaping water policies and solutions. By fostering leadership, education, and collaboration, WLI helps build stronger, more resilient communities that can navigate water challenges with confidence.
The WLI partnered with the Liverman Fellows in the 2024-2025 academic year, which was also the WLI's first year with a cohort in Tucson and Nogales. The Liverman Fellows participated in WLI field trips and workshops to learn more about the program and participant experiences.
The Liverman Fellows completed several projects for the WLI including:
- Making a website landing page for the WLI that can be edited and updated as the program continues to grow.
- Creating a logo for the WLI, which can be seen at the top of this page.
- Creating a video about the WLI's mission featuring participant interviews and stop-motion animation.
Students involved in these projects: Brandolyn Baeza, Nandika Barjatya, Hope Barton, Emery Byrd, Myles Kashanipour, Alyssa Paredes, Riley Remen, Grace Toftner
