Chat about environmental career pathways with a professional in the field over pizza and crafts. This event is free to students, with food and supplies provided.

This month's guest Jonni Zeman is the Program and Communications Coordinator for the Coalition for Sonoran Desert Protection (CSDP). The Coalition’s mission is to protect the biodiversity of the Sonoran Desert in Southern Arizona through science-based advocacy, education, and collaboration.

Jonni’s role at the Coalition is to create impactful communications that connect the community to the Coalition’s work. This includes writing for printed and email newsletters, blog posts, and social media highlighting the Coalition’s active advocacy, local policy work and achievements for desert open spaces and wildlife. Jonni also plays an active role in event planning and volunteer management for the Coalition, including for field work days such as the Coalition’s Habitat Restoration Days and highway cleanups. In addition, she has contributed artwork that is featured in the Coalition’s educational and outreach materials, merchandise, and recently a trail sign for the Big Wash Trailhead in Oro Valley. Before the Coalition, Jonni worked as an intern for Pima County’s former Natural Resources department through the University of Arizona Earth Grant program from 2022-2023, where she gained experience in ecological restoration and invasive plant species management. She graduated from the U of A in 2023 with a B.S. in Environmental Science and a minor in Plant Sciences, joining CSDP later that year.
