Elayna Filippone
Elayna is a senior majoring in natural resources with a concentration in conservation biology as well as working towards a certification in Geographic Information Systems. Having grown up in Philadelphia, she has seen the impacts of environmental injustice in marginalized communities, so her passion is ensuring all people have access to a clean, healthy, and sustainable environment regardless of factors that are outside of their control. In the future, Elayna would love to attend graduate school in order to further the conversation on environmental health issues; with her GIS certification, they would be most interested in studying spatial and social trends in environmental contamination, seeing how these issues may become exacerbated with the growing issue of climate change, and finding ways in which affected communities can build a resilient and sustainable current and future environment. Outside of the classroom, you can find Elayna reading, painting, cooking, watching Survivor, or hanging out with her dog, Ella, and cat, Leo.
