Where

The National Academies will host a public webinar on May 19, 2026 at 3:00PM (ET) to release a new report on enabling DOE regional energy-water technology pilots. The report examines how pilot programs can be designed to strengthen resilience across interconnected energy and water systems as communities face increasing pressures from extreme weather, rising electricity demand, and aging infrastructure. It emphasizes the need for regionally tailored approaches, improved data and system understanding, cross-sector coordination, and adaptive management strategies. During the webinar, committee chair Katharine Jacobs, Director of the Center for Climate Adaptation Science and Solutions within the Arizona Institute for Resilience at the University of Arizona, will present key findings and outline considerations to inform the U.S. Department of Energy’s approach to regional energy-water technology pilots. Q&A to follow.
